it must be the x bracing, and the E string will cut through anything,
but the A which I've found to be the most difficult string to be in
balance, on dozens of instruments I've owned, is balanced, and is strong

"Well, Arthur was kind enough to stop by yesterday with his new Smart. I have to say that it sounds and plays better than it looks... Honest... The neck is effortless to play. Sound is very rich and even, on strings and moving across strings. The E string is very clear but not sharp, G string is good and strong and the A string doesn't sound odd as you come on and off it, as some mandos can. Beautiful sustain for an F hole instrument.
